Martin Resort & Spa for your recent holiday and for sharing your valuable feedback with us. Save your money and go to one of the other Secrets properties that ARE 5 star resortsĭear AFPauld, Thank you for choosing Secrets St. The value is not there and that is hard to accept when spending your hard earned dollars. This resort is average… a solid 3 stars …. Overall there is nothing “wrong” with this resort it just doesn’t hold up to the standard of the secrets brand at other Amstar properties and unfortunately it does charge Secrets prices. Some of the hostesses in the dinner restaurants were not so friendly however but this was more of an exception than a rule. Some of the bartenders could use a basic mixology course but they made up for it with personality. The pool was nice, many of the staff warm and welcoming. There was a beach grill and buffet for breakfast and lunch but again very little variety and not up to the standards of other secrets or even dreams properties in Mexico or Central AmericaĮverything else was fine. There were only three restaurants available for dinner and usually only one was open at a time. There just wasn’t much choice and it wasn’t very good. Our real issue was with the variety of the food. In fact the whole island is rather expensive. We went to the Dutch side and there is much more variety though getting there is expensive. The voltage is European and the currency is euros though US dollars are accepted everywhere. The French side of the island is very laid back with little to do. Unfortunately the whole experience was a bit too sedate. Bearing in mind that this is the low season in St Martin so, with the exception of weekends when day use visitors arrived, the resort was very quiet- which is what we were looking for this time around. The beach is beautiful and we never had trouble finding a place to sit. The rooms are well cleaned and while a bit dated they were comfortable. The grounds are clean and maintained and the housekeeping was exceptional. The resort itself is very picturesque albeit a bit more compact than we are used to. This is the 6th Amstar resort we have visited in recent years so we are accustomed to these properties and were quite excited about visiting this resort.
